Some of our current suppliers

Meat
  • Our sausages are made by Neil who raises his rare breed pigs at Pomeroy Rare Breeds Farm, near Launceston, also to be found at the Tavistock Farmers Market.
  • J & S Downings Butchers of Tavistock supply us with locally reared meat and the dry cured Cornish back bacon and hogs puddings that go into our breakfasts.  Their shop can be found just off West Street, close to the Pannier Market
  • Our chicken comes from Leigh Farm (via Downings) or Providence Farm, Holsworthy, also to be found in the Tavistock Pannier Market
Fish
  • Fresh fish caught off the South West coast is supplied to us by S & J Fisheries of Plymouth
  • Smoked fish comes from Tregida and Dartmouth Smokehouses
Dairy
  • Tavistock Country Cheeses supplies us with a wide range of local cheeses made by artisan and independent producers – their shop can be found in the surround to the Pannier Market and is well worth a visit
  • Dunns Dairy, Exbourne supplies us with our daily milk and their own delicious butter
  • Langage Farm supplies us with excellent cream cheese, yoghurt, ice-cream and clotted cream
Vegetables are the backbone to our menu and we take pride in using only seasonal produce, our main suppliers are:
  • Tavistock Market Garden
  • Holsworthy Organics (Tavistock Friday Pannier Market),
  • Rising Sun Nursery ( Tavistock Friday in the square and Farmers Market)
  • We also use organic home grown herbs and garden surplus
  • Our soft fruit is all grown locally, much from the Tamar Valley and Brentor areas
Eggs – free range from Tamar Valley
Drinks
  • Apple juice and cider from George Travis of West Lake Farm (Tavistock Farmers Market),
  • Luscombe Organics, Buckfastleigh for a range of organic juices and ginger beer
  • Spring Mineral Water from Hall Manor, Kelly nr Tavistock
Other
  • Bread – Honey’s Bakery of Horrabridge supplies us with granary and white bread (and we also bake our own speciality breads)
  • Chutneys and sauces – from Malcolm of Hog’s Bottom Garden Delights, find him at Tavistock Farmers Market
  • Honey from the Tamar Valley and Dartmoor suppliers

Our dry ingredients, like oats, dried fruit, nuts and flour are generally organic and are purchased from Kilworthy Kapers, which is an independent shop in Tavistock. We purchase only fairly traded tea (Oxfam), coffee (Global Kofi of Launceston), orange juice (Yioungs of Barnsataple) and chocolate (Tavistock Co-op).
